Are the genres in music the same as genres in film? What about games?
Although there are some similarities a majority of the time you would struggle to group them together in a way that makes sense.
What is genre for? Is it just for sales, or does it have meaning for media producers?
Genres help in the definition and grouping of different types of media.
What are your favourite genres? What are the conventions or distinctive characteristics of those genres?
Hip hop / Rap / EDM (Electronic Dance Music) - I like lyrically complex music with a hard hitting bass line that's impossible not to dance to.
What genre is your favourite artist?
Eminem - Hip hop/Rap | Deadmau5 - Progressive House/Electronic Music | Queen - Rock
Are they pushing the boundaries of the genre or defining it?
Eminem is a household name that everyone knows even if they don't listen to his music. Deadmau5 helped create one of the vst plugins that a number of current artist use for EDM. Queen is also a household name that everyone has heard and knows about.
Project 2:
I have decided to change my presentation to be about Michael Trent Reznor instead of David Bowie. I while searching for information on David I went down a rabbit hole of information about Michael which is why I chose to switch to talking about him instead. I also know more of his music over David.

Today we learnt about genres and how to differentiate them. I also researched information about my new subject for project 2.

We were asked about our favorite types of music and to describe what genre they fall under. Using google scholar I was able to find some more information regarding Michael.
What feedback have I received this week? How am I going to address it?
It's ok for me to change the subject for project 2 from David to Michael.
What challenges did I encounter? How did I/how am I going to address them?
I still struggle to write about information in artics without repeating what's said in the article.
What am I unsure about? Have a question or something you don't understand? This is something you can ask your facilitator.
I'm not sure if I have enough information about Michael or if my script is long enough.
