Punch in:
Is where you record over a previous recording to fix or replace a section of the track/stem.
Over dubbing:
Is a separate recording taken after the main recording session.
Playlist:
On one track you can record multiple takes and select the best sections of the different takes and they are played in the one track as non destructive punchin method.
This week was spent in the studios learning how to use protools and practicing our signal flow.
Reflection
What?
What activities have I completed this week?
This week David was away so we had a another lecture in meaning the class was mostly dedicated to just practising signal flow. We had two studios running simultaneously with half the class in each and I was in one and the lecture was in the other. He basically assigned me the role as supervisor to help out every one of those signal flows in the studio I was in.
So What?
So, what have I learned this week?
This week we learned more about punching and when it would be used when recording along with overdubbing and where it would be used for recording. Within Pro Tools we learned how to use playlists instead of recording on multiple tracks we can just record on the same track but a different takes. I learnt a lot more about helping other people through their signal flow and how to reword things in a way to make them understand.
Am I on the right track with this unit?
I'm really enjoying helping people with their signal flow I do need to remind myself not to get too up myself though.
Now What?
Now what will I do to move forward?
I need to continue practising my signal flow I can get better and better at it and. I wanna go and watch some tutorials on how to use the playlists within Pro Tools so I can get a better understanding of how to use them.
