1 Hour mix feedback:

The overall mix is pretty loud

I think the lead vocal is a bit too loud and harsh compared to the rest of the mix

The piano tracks are a good volume

Could maybe eq some of the vocals to get rid of some harsh frequencies

I like how you timed the vocals correctly

can barely hear the back up vocals cause its hiding behind the volume of the lead vox

could eq some of the tracks so that each track has room on the spectrum, this would help make the mix not sound so muddy

The first part of the class was going over learning journals. we then went over project 2. we then did a 1 hour mix and got class mates to critique it.

What?

What activities have I completed this week?

I worked on our learning journal for the first part of the class and we went over project 2. We then did a one hour mix then we would rotated the class to sit to the person next to us and listen to their mix. We did this a couple times so everyone could hear a everyone else's mix and type in a notepad there feedback on it.

So What?

So, what have I learned this week?

We learned about mixing by practising a one hour mix session where we were given audio files and told within an hour to create a final mix. We learned that headphones all sound different meaning when we were mixing on our headphones and someone else would use theirs to listen it sound different to them for instance my DT770 pros have flat EQ response compared to the ATHM50x's is which a few other people were using to listen to. This week we learned more about microphone technologies and ribbon microphones again as a refresher to the zoom meeting we had a few weeks prior.

Am I on the right track with this unit?

I think knowledge wise I am on track with this class and I really enjoying the practical side of it however my learning journals an reflections have been lacking and I need to work on them more.

Now What?

Now what will I do to move forward?

I need to go through and fix up my learning journals/ reflections and write more into them and fix them up to make them look a bit better overall. I want to play around with the mix we were given a bit more because we're only given an hour but I do like the song and would like to play around with it in my end time.

My learning journal needs a lot of work specifically with the reflections. My reflections too short and are more data focused then reflection based.
